Designing a product is concerned with the efficient and effective development of ideas through a process that leads to new products.

Product designers conceptualize and evaluate ideas, making them tangible through products in a more systematic approach. This evolving role has been facilitated by different tools that allow designers visualize and analyze ideas. To design the wiring harness for the wide range from consumer electronics to appliances industry to automotive and telecom too, different tools and softwares are used.

• Plotters : A plotter is used to draw the designs.
• CAD : CAD is used to design and develop wiring harness product. It is extensively used in the design of wiring harness used in the automobile. CAD is used throughout the engineering process from conceptual design and layout, through detailed engineering and analysis of components to definition of Manufacturing methods.
